  • A Family Christmas

Those of you who follow me on Instagram will know I’m in Australia at the moment. I’m here staying with relatives. Later this week, my parents will be joining us, and I will be celebrating my first family Christmas since I began my recovery journey. Christmas isn’t actually the reason I’m here. I travelled all…

  • On ultra processed foods.

    On ultra processed foods.

Let’s talk ultra processed foods from an eating disorder lived experience perspective. I’ve recently heard talk about how the vast majority of binge foods for people with an eating disorder are ultra processed foods, and that they may be to blame for the rise in eating disorder presentation. Now I can’t comment on the statistics,…

  • It’s been a year!

    It’s been a year!

On 24th July, 2021, I wrote the post “I binged today. Here’s what I learned.” At the time, it didn’t cross my mind that I’d go a whole year without a full-on, painful, BED-style binge. Yet here we are, in August 2022, and I haven’t binged like that since. There were so many points where…

  • Freedom

    Freedom

So much time wasted, lost To the voice in my head That told me I was unworthy Of joy, love, freedom to be Myself. Not that I knew who that was, Too busy trying to bend, to fit Into someone else’s mould. Not that it helped Because the mould kept changing. I could never be…

  • Swimwear and scars

Content warning: this post mentions sexual assault. A friend shared a story recently about her struggle with showing her scar in a bikini. It was really inspiring and it got me thinking. I don’t have scars like my friend, well not external ones. Yet it occured to me that I’ve never worn a bikini. Definitely…

Welcome to the BED Post!

This site and its contents are based on 4 decades of lived experience with an eating disorder, and the long and difficult journey to recovery.

Here at the BED Post, we welcome anyone wanting to know more about Binge Eating Disorder and eating disorders in bigger bodies. People with higher BMI make up the vast majority of eating disorder sufferers, in direct contradiction to the image portrayed by the mainstream media.

We aim to support and advocate for this majority, raise awareness, and challenge the weight stigma faced by those suffering from an eating disorder in a bigger body.

And last, but by no means least, we want to bring hope that eating disorder recovery is possible. Because with the right treatment and support, it truly is.
